I’ve gotten bored of the internet. It was fine when it was a bunch of interesting strangers shouting at each other and sharing cool things, but it isn’t that any more. Now it’s just a bunch of assholes and companies trying to sell you things. Or worse, a bunch of NPC’s that spout the same opinions and thoughts day in and day out.
I used to spend hours every night surfing dozens of forums, looking at new threads, and posting my thoughts. Now I’m down to checking the notifications from a couple of apps and mindlessly browsing imageboards and a handful of forums. For normies this is fine, but for me, there is no one in real life that I can connect to when it comes to discussing our honest thoughts and opinions. It’s like being the only adult in a sea of children.
The only place left online that still has that sort of community are obscure forums but almost no one uses them compared to the early 2000’s. Even then, the last few remaining active sites are filled with mostly bots, retards, and people saying the same shit over and over again. It’s sad really. I’ve been alive too long and I can see the signs. The end is coming, and soon the internet will be just like real life.
It’s not all bad, though. I’ve become more productive. I don’t spend all my time on the computer any more, so I’ve been doing things like drawing and writing. It’s a nice change of pace. I feel like I’m doing something creative rather than just wasting my life. It’s just a shame the net has become so over-saturated with content that there’s no one to see your work unless you get extremely lucky and find an audience.
Oh well. Perhaps through some divine intervention Google will crumble to make way for a new search engine that doesn’t censor the hell out of websites not owned by major corporations.
